The giant pandas "Bao Li" and "Qing Bao," residing at the Smithsonian's National Zoo in Washington, D.C., have entered the fourth week of their quarantine period. Their diet of bamboo, along with supplemental foods such as steamed buns, apples, and carrots, remains normal, and the diverse menu contributes to balanced nutrition.

"Bao Li" often climbs and plays in the outdoor enclosure before settling down to savor bamboo. After filling its belly, it rests on the wooden platform in the indoor exhibit. Due to its love of climbing rocks and trees, its claws show some wear and tear with the outer keratin layers peeling off, which is considered a normal phenomenon. Currently, "Bao Li" is not showing any signs of discomfort, and both teams are continuing to monitor its condition closely.

"Qing Bao" enjoys dining and resting on a fallen tree atop a rock cave in the outdoor area, where it can take in a panoramic view of the surroundings. To enhance their interest in exploration, Chinese and American experts have specially prepared small portions of fruits, vegetables, and specially formulated feed, placing them in daily activity areas or hiding them in bamboo to encourage more activity.

In addition to providing care and feeding with love, training sessions are being conducted to strengthen their hind limbs and improve their grasping abilities. Both pandas have established a good level of trust with the American keepers.
