A new video of my Hydra under darkfield. I found a really interesting paper showing that hydra's metabolism and genes expression are under the control of the circadian rhythm and are highly dependent on day/night cycles. It seems that polyps contractions follow light stimuli (Kanaya et al., 2019). I also observed this behaviour although I am not following strict experimental conditions.

In this video the Hydra is probably not happy to stay between the slide and the cover, but it did not get hurt and now it lives happily in its new home (see previous post).
