Playwright David Henry Hwang talks about identity and some of the other themes raised by his play Yellow Face, which opens at the National Theatre in London on 5th May 2014. He also recalls the controversy that inspired him to write Yellow Face: the casting of a white actor to play the role of a Eurasian character in the first Broadway production of Miss Saigon in the early 1990s.
