The Airbus C295 is a robust, reliable and highly versatile tactical transport aircraft designed for missions ranging from troop and cargo transport, maritime patrol, airborne warning, surveillance and reconnaissance, to signals intelligence, armed close air support, medical evacuation, VIP transport and airborne firefighting.

The C295 can carry up to eight tonnes of payload or up to 70 troops at a maximum cruise speed of 260 knots. Its flexibility is further enhanced by its ability to be equipped for air-to-air refuelling of fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters.
Equipped with retractable landing gear and an unobstructed 12.69 metre pressurised cabin, the C295 can cruise at altitudes up to 30,000 ft while maintaining excellent low-level flight characteristics. It has remarkable short take-off and landing (STOL) performance from unpaved, soft and sand/grass airstrips.
Powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127G turboprop engines, the C295 offers excellent manoeuvrability, and fuel efficiency enabling endurance of up to 13 hours.. This engine has been flown on more than 6,000 aircraft, accumulating over 160 million flight hours, making it a highly reliable, easy-to-maintain option with outstanding operational availability.
The C295's baseline now includes winglets, which provide even better performance in all phases of flight, offering improved take-off characteristics from hot and high airfields, higher cruising altitudes (especially at higher weights), increased endurance and an overall fuel burn reduction of three to six percent. C295 operators have accumulated more than 600,000 flight hours in all types of environments, demonstrating the effectiveness and soundness of the aircraft and system design.
The combat-proven C295 has excelled in challenging environments such as Chad, Iraq, Afghanistan and beyond. It operates in extreme climates, from the jungles of Brazil and the mountains of Colombia to the deserts of Egypt and the freezing winters of Poland.
Optional self-protection systems, including cockpit armour, chaff/flare dispensers and advanced warning systems, have been tested in hostile environments. In-flight refuelling is also an option.
The C295 is widely used for humanitarian and non-military missions, including disaster relief, search and rescue (SAR), and surveillance missions such as monitoring illegal immigration, drug smuggling, piracy and deforestation. It also assists in marine pollution control.
With its short take-off and landing (STOL) capability and the ability to operate from unprepared airstrips, the C295 is ideal for resupply missions in remote areas.
Airbus Defence and Space's Fully Integrated Tactical System (FITS) is the C295's core mission system, covering roles from anti-submarine warfare to search and rescue.
FITS uses networked computers and displays to process and present sensor data, increasing efficiency and reducing crew workload. It features modular consoles and integrates radar, EO/IR sensors, AIS and more.
FITS supports multiple configurations and is adaptable for future upgrades, including airborne early warning roles.
The C295's advanced cockpit supports full operations with a two-person crew. It features Collins Aerospace's Pro Line Fusion® avionics system, which complies with current and future airspace regulations.
Four 14.1-inch multi-function touchscreen displays provide intuitive control, enhancing situational awareness and reducing pilot workload. The cockpit includes night vision goggle compatibility and supports civil and military tactical requirements with features such as ADS-B Out, TCAS II v7.1, RNAV, CPDLC and weather radar with wind shear prediction.
The autopilot and flight director system are fully integrated with the flight management subsystem through LNAV (lateral navigation) and VNAV (vertical navigation) modes.
