Read & Relax Program Bay Area Humane Society
This program is for children ages 5-17 to read out loud to the animals. Participants can choose to read to cats or dogs in a quiet setting. Children ages 5-11 must be under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian. The parent or guardian supervising children ages 12-17 must stay on the premises but does not need to stay in the room with the child. Bean bag chairs and a selection of books are provided; however, children can also bring in a book of their choosing. The goal of this program is to socialize animals, reduce their anxiety, and help children develop their animal care and reading skills.
