Wow. This took a long time lol.

But it's finally here! After two whole years of development time, MIDAS is officially launched and ready to be played.

God I just hope people play it. I know that when it comes to choice of Videogames nowadays there are a literal endless amount of options to fill ones time with, and honestly I'm not sure what MIDAS offers over the competition that would make someone choose it over any of the other wonderful indie games out there.

But I'm sure at least a few people will. Especially if I keep leaving free copies around like these haha:

I mean I appreciate it. Though perhaps you're only hopping I'll leave more free MIDAS keys laying around.

Honestly I might. I'm super antsy to get the game into peoples hands, and given how tough the competition is I feel like giving a ton of copies out is my best chance to join the cultural zeitgeist, at least to a small extent.

Like come on. Are you really gonna pick my game over something like Blue Prince? Deltarune?

Although at least I've kept my price low. It's certainly not equal to a Silksong, but maybe MIDAS is at least worth 1/10th of a Silksong.

In case you can't already tell this Description is one part Diary entry and another part SEO (Search Engine Optimization). What a lovely term that is.

Try explaining to a caveman why you've included a number of notable Indie game names within the description of your own Indie Game Trailer.

They'd club you over the head.

And they'd be right to!

I'd say the monetization/marketing are by far my least favourite aspects of Game Dev. However necessary; being forced to put a price tag on what I view as an art project is heart-wrenching.

In an ideal world I would simply release it for free and live off the good vibes I'm able to spread.

But of course we don't live in an ideal world. We live in one with bills and taxes and health issues and Nintendo Switch 2 games being $100.00

I guess that's a big reason I'm so compelled to give the game out for free. Like hopefully with enough people getting it for free some good word will spread and in turn I can get a good amount of full purchases to start doing game dev as an actual job.

I really mean it when I say I love game development. To me it is the truest form of artistic communication; with it being (currently) the only art for in which I direct your experience down to the finest detail and yet you still have the freedom to simply ignore instruction and find your own value within the work.

Maybe that's a bit self-indulgent. Is that the right term? Whatever.
