Thousands have signed a petition calling on Fox News to fire anchor Brian Kilmeade for suggesting that homeless people with mental illness should be executed.

The comment came during a discussion on Fox & Friends about the fatal stabbing of Iryna Zarutska, in which police say the suspect arrested for the murder was homeless and struggling with mental illness. While co-host Lawrence Jones argued that homeless people with mental illness who refuse public services should be jailed, Kilmeade responded, “Or involuntary lethal injection or something, just kill them.”

Kilmeade has since apologized, but the petition argues he should still be held accountable and removed from his position.
