This video captures the interment ceremony, honoring the life and legacy of my father Joseph Joe Bruno Sr at Sarasota national Cemetery
Born, May 24, 1927 passed December 22, 2025
Following a funeral mass that was previously live streamed from incarnation Catholic Church in Sarasota https://www.youtube.com/live/ozD9CFeV.... The ceremony marked a deeply meaningful final tribute to Pop's life of music, service, family, and friendship. The ceremony begins with the United States Navy colorguard, folding the American flag and presenting it to our family, followed by a short and heartfelt blessing by father Russell of the church of Saint Patrick in Sarasota where he also spoke of my mom who was intered with my dad after the ceremony
After the ceremony, Peter Gould offered the first remarks after which I had the honor of guiding additional comments from friends and loved ones who shared memories of pop speakers included:
Charlie Bruno, Pops brother
Skip Conkling - Pops Long, Time partner, From, The, Freindship Center in Sarasota
Kevin Givens , who was Pops bandmate with the jazz ambassadors who also performed taps at the cemetery
Eric Guth - colleague from the Suncoast concert band and former leader of the Jazz Ambassadors big band which Pop performed with
Jenny from Cassarianno - a dear friend and bartender who loved Pop dearly
The video concludes with the musical photo tribute accompanied by a trumpet solo performed by Pop of the song "all the way" by Frank Sinatra, who Pop performed with on occasion from the 1950s until the 1970s in Boston. Many of the photographs come from the 2019 Sarasota Jazz festival. A beautiful gathering that included more than a dozen family members m. Among them. Pops brother Charlie Bruno, my sisters, Debbi and Anne.(who passed in 2022.) Debbi's daughter Carly, Anne's son Brian, Brians son's Carson and Cameron, Carly's son Lincoln, Debbi's husband, Lance, my wife Christine, my son Nick And, our dear friend, Keith Carmen, who accompanied us on piano at times during the festival. Also featured our images of Joe Bruno Dixieland Hotdogs, the Garden Avenue seven Dixieland band that Pop performed with for 10 years internationally and moments of Pop Nick and me making music together as well as Pop Christine Lionel, the piano cat and Olivia the Greyhound from a YouTube live stream towards the end of Pop's life.
