Digby Jones - 151 Lexington

I wrote this to say thanks to a friend. A while ago, myself and my girlfriend had a short holiday trip to New York. I had planned to surprise her and ask if she would like to marry me. At the time one of my best friends was living there, so he helped me with various secret arrangements before we arrived - so that when I got down on one knee on Park Avenue, it would come as a real surprise to my wife-to-be! Anyway, my friend lived at 151 Lexington, so I put this tune together as a sort of happy celebration / thank you note to him. I wanted to get a happy sound, with a sort of Bob James flavour - to be honest it’s got a lot of chords in it for me. As I can’t read music and don’t know a great deal about chords, I just have to play notes until a track sounds alright. So getting this many chords in a song and it sounding OK is a big achievement for me and took quit a while for me to do it. It still makes me smile a lot whenever I hear it!
