I don't travel like I used to. Kuta, Lombok.

Today I walk around the beach and fishing village of Kuta, Lombok where I meet a man building a sand bag wall in front of his home to protect the house from ocean waves. He also tells me a little of his fishing.

Another man waves me over to chat then relays the story of how local families are having to move homes as developers want to build on the land they’re occupying.

David is an Italian man with a prosthetic leg who used to live in Indonesia and is now visiting Lombok with his family. He conveys the effect visiting Indonesia had on him and why he has chosen to spend so much time here. He also explains what happened to him so that he now requires a prosthetic leg.

We also meet a local man who rents battery operated cars for children and he explains some of his business to us.

And finally Michael is a German man who needed to get away from the stresses of western living and was returning to Indonesia after traveling through a portion of it thirty years ago.
