DAY 3 - Discovery

At the age of 15, I discovered I was mostly attracted to men although I had experimented with some
girls before. Growing up in a Chicago suburb, there was no LGBT influence. I never meet a transsexual
or another openly gay person. I felt nobody else was like me other than the girls. I spent most of my
youth surrounded by cisgender females and their boyfriends. I never really felt 100% included. But I
went to school as myself and everybody for the most part never questioned who that person was. At
16, I had my first sexual experience with a boy and at that moment I discovered I was gay or at least
according to society I was. I felt it was necessary to inform my parents on my new identity and decided to come out of the closet. For my mother it was a simple, "Oh yeah, I already know that!" As for my father, I was more nervous to tell him. I invited him out for dinner and told him, "I have been thinking about this for some time now and well, I am gay." His response was "Son, if that is what makes you happy, none of us can take that away from you and as your dad I'll always love you." In an instant, a huge weight was taken off my shoulders but I also felt proud to be coming forward with the truth. I didn’t know that 10 years later I would be coming out again with the real truth.

Dia 3 - Descurbrimiento
A los 15 años descubrí que me gustaban los hombres aunque había experimentado con mujeres. En un suburbio de Chicago donde me crié, no había una influencia LGBT. Nunca había conocido una transexual o alguien que era homosexual. Me sentía solo, que nadie más era como yo, solo las mujeres. Toda mi vida he estado arrollada con mujeres cisgeneras con sus novios. Nunca me sentía al 100% incluida. Tal como soy, fui a la escuela y Nadia me molestaba. A los 16 años tuve mi primera experiencia con un otro hombre y descubrí que era gay (según la sociedad). Decidí decirle a mis padres y salir del “closet.” Para mi madre fue simple, “o si, eso ya lo sabía!” Nerviosamente invité a mi papá a cenar y le dije que por un tiempo tenía que decirle que era gay! El me contestó “hijo, si eres feliz nunca te voy a quitar eso, y como papá siempre te voy a querer!!” En ese instante el peso del mundo sobre mis hombros se quitó. Me sentí orgullosas e decirles la verdad pero nunca imaginé que 10 años después estaría aquí para decir mi otra verdad!
