The Cerralbo Museum is located at 17 Ventura Rodríguez Street and is just five minutes from Plaza de España. This is a museum of 1,200 square metres and 50,000 works of art. Visitors will be welcomed in a grandiose hall with a marble staircase leading to the first floor.

The Staircase of Honour was one of the most Scenographic spaces in these nineteenth-century palaces. With the staircase was important to exalt the social prestige of the owners of the house. The museum was the residence of Enrique de Aguilera y Gamboa, Marquis of Cerralbo, who devoted much of his life to collecting.

It is one of the few palaces that preserves its original decoration, allowing us to experience how the Madrid aristocracy lived at the end of the nineteenth century. The armoury displays approximately 700 pieces of weapons and armour. The museum's private collection is considered as one of the most outstanding and complete in Spain.

The Marquis of Cerralbo donated many pieces to the National Archaeological Museum and the National Museum of Sciences. This museum houses sculptures dating back to Roman times, Greek ceramics, European and Oriental weapons and armour, and Meissen porcelain.

Inside, it is possible to find antiques, sculptures, furniture, drawings and engravings, or paintings, where big names stand out such as El Greco, Zurbarán, Bronzino, Tintoretto, and Van Dyck. The palace was built between 1883 and 1893. With a classical style and decorated with neo-baroque and Rocco elements, was inaugurated as a museum in 1944 and declared a Historic-Artistic Monument and Property of Cultural Interest in 1962.

Following the Billiard Room is located in this room is designed for conversation, gossip, and rest between dances. The plastic decoration was done by Máximo Juderías. One of the highlights is the ballroom. Decorated with panels of Agate from Granada, marble from the Pyrenees and large Venetian mirrors, this ballroom is the last stop on our tour.
