Dr. Ankita Raturi: Designing Digital Technologies for Sustainable Agriculture

In this seminar, I will discuss the role of digital technologies in improving the sustainability of agricultural systems, with a focus on decision support tools. Farmers, crop advisors, and farm stakeholders are faced with an increasingly complex decision space matched with an infl ux of data and tools. Software offers us the ability to manage agricultural complexity across scale, but in order to be useful they must also be user-friendly.

I will share how our teams practice participatory design research with farmers and farm stakeholders to develop user-centered decision support and information management tools. I will invite a discussion around how digital technologies can better support farmers, advisors, agronomists, and other agricultural stakeholders.
