QUEST 3S REVIEW: The Best Budget VR Headset on the Market?

The Meta Quest 3S is the best budget VR headset on the market right now. With the chipset, power and full games library of the Quest 3 and the lower end optics of the Quest 2 it's the perfect happy medium between performance and affordability, it doesn't offer anything new to those of us who own the Quest 3 but for anyone undecided on XR/VR or those who have been waiting for a cheaper option to upgrade their Quest 2 this is likely going to be the right choice for almost everyone this Christmas and beyond. The Quest 3S isn't something I will personally use, as a seasoned VR user who has become accustomed to the pancake lenses and higher resolution of the Quest 3, picking up the new Meta Quest 3S feels like taking a step backwards... but this new headset wasn't made for me. The Quest 3S was designed solely for those who aren't yet invested in XR and those who have been holding off on upgrading their Quest 2, those two markets now have the most affordable and content packed VR headset we've seen to date, a headset that will play top tier upcoming VR titles like Batman Arkham Shadow, Behemoth and Metro Awakening as well as a huge back catalogue of existing games and full colour mixed reality experiences. It might not be the best VR headset on the market, there are many far better options for a higher price point, but it is almost certainly the best budget VR headset in 2024.
