Lee Seunggi was born on January 10, 1987 in Seoul, South Korea. Although not much is known about his family background, it has been widely documented that he hails from a very rich South Korean business family. Lee seunggi was a good student during his elementary and middle school days. He was an all rounder and performed equally well in sports, academics and arts and was the elected president of the student council during all his high school and middle school. In school, he became well-versed in English, Japanese and Korean. The fact that he learned all the three languages in his school it self, is a perfect testimony to how intelligent he was.
Lee seungi loved music and arts since his early teenage years and spent hours listening to music. The band Maroon5 was highly successful in South Korea in those days, and it became an inspiration for Lee seunggi as well. During his freshman year in high school, SeungGi's band performed at a small theater owned by popular 1980s singer Lee Sun Hee. After Sun Hee heard the band's music he asked Seung Gi to pursue music professionally, but at that time, SeungGi did not know who Lee Seon Hee was and turned down his offer. When lee seunggi got home and told his mom about Lee Sun Hee, his mom explained how popular he was in the 1980's and SeungGi decided to work with lee sun hee and trained for 2 years.
