Union Minister Rajnath Singh opened up about the time when he was lodged in the jail for agitating against the Indira Gandhi government. Rajnath Singh recalled the leaders arrested by the then Congress government as he hit out at the Opposition over charges of “dictatorship” levelled against the present BJP government.Rajnath Singh was 24 years old when the Emergency was imposed by the Indira Gandhi government in June 1975. He was made convenor for Mirzapur-Sonbhadra during the JP Movement against Emergency. "She was in the hospital for 27 days and died, I could not come ...I did not get released, did not get parole. I got my head shaved in the jail, the last rites were performed by my brothers I could not reach...and imagine they make allegations of dictatorship against us, they do not look within," Rajnath Singh said as he slammed the Opposition for “dictatorship” claims.
