The Lisciotto House in Pullman National Historical Park is set to illuminate the experiences of an Italian family residing and working in Pullman during the mid-20th century. The new exhibit is based on the remarkable story of Americo L. Lisciotto, a Pullman resident who played a pivotal role in organizing the community and spearheading efforts to establish the Pullman Civic Organization.Lisciotto's leadership thwarted the impending demolition of the neighborhood in 1960, a fate orchestrated to accommodate the expansion of the adjacent industrial district catering to the newly established port at Lake Calumet. Visitors will visit the former Lisciotto home, delving into the remarkable work undertaken by Lisciotto and fellow residents to defy the demolition plans.

The recreated home, adorned with period-specific décor, provides a window into the daily life of a typical Italian-working class family in Pullman. Notable artifacts include a vintage mid-century 3D Wall Light Box showcasing Venice’s grand canal, handcrafted by Pezzella Studio, alongside a portable Last Right’s Kit and other decorative items echoing the essence of this contemporary Italian family.
