In international news, at least 49 Muslims were killed in a terrorist attack on two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. In response to these attacks leader of Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Nihad Awad spoke out at a press conference. Awad sent a message to President Trump and other world leaders reminding them that hateful rhetoric and Islamophobic rhetoric does have a real world impact. White supremacists, white nationalists, and other racist people are listening. Donald Trump famously instituted a Muslim ban in the United States barring travel from Muslim-majority nations.
