In this video, I share five everyday habits that genuinely helped my recovery from an eating disorder, based on lived experience rather than quick-fix advice. I talk honestly about the small, often overlooked behaviours that keep eating disorders going, as well as the bigger, root behaviours that can feel impossible to change without understanding why they matter.

This video covers:

Lead-up behaviours like tensing, food rules, and subtle restriction
Why stopping purging is so important for gut health and hunger hormones
Permission to eat, regular eating, and mechanical eating in recovery
How ghrelin and leptin (hunger and fullness hormones) are affected by restriction and purging
Why including all food groups matters in eating disorder recovery
The physical, psychological, and neurological importance of facing fear foods

I also talk about why recovery advice can feel frustrating or impossible, especially if you’ve been in treatment, followed meal plans, or relapsed when alone, and why understanding the biology behind eating disorders can make these steps more achievable.
