Story to this: centuries ago, human poachers attempted to exterminate a tribe of sapients the same species as Sonic, they passed on their anger to the water spirit protecting them, intent on reinforcing its resolve, but when that anger turned into rage and corrupted the spirit, it was sealed in a great crystal, guarded in the present by the last member of that tribe, only to be broken by an ambitious roboticist.

Chaos has a ginormous mouth!

I fʊϲking adore that song!

As a kid, I played Sonic Adventure and absolutely adored Open Your Heart and the final boss Perfect Chaos, I would put the song on repeat on my Dreamcast for hours! XD

Years ago, I searched for a mix of both the Adventure and Generations version, found one that was a nice listen, later another, but only the vocals were more or less synced, not the melody itself.

I hesitated to create my own, until now, and with the new and improved Audacity that lets me trim and extend clips via dragging their edges, this turned out to be way more simple and satisfying than I thought was gonna be! XD

As for how I painted Sonic, that's how I would imagine him if he were designed for a more mature setting!

Ironically, as a kid, I never liked his design for being too cartoony for my tastes, but him with smaller eyes was so off!

Then came the "realistic" design for the Sonic movie, and it looked like a halfling in a costume! XD

But it inspired me to try again, and I found out that his face looks like a bear, so there I went! XD

His torso and arms being humanoid worked, but not his legs

I considered ostrich legs, but that looked ridiculous, so I put the idea aside for years.

Until now, when I remembered the maned wolf! Such legs worked like a charm!

Long digits and tail for balance, an avian pelvis to avoid giving him an arse or a glaring nothing, XD and we've transcended the species of hedgehog!

Now a realistic Sonic would not be blue or azur or whatever, so I coloured him dark grey, which is pretty much what desaturating the colour blue leads to! XD

But there's gotta be fantastical elements, so Sonic wields lightning!

He can also only perform short bursts of near-sound speeds with lightning, but otherwise, realistic Sonic can reach the top speed of a cheetah, and no more running with the arms held stiffly back!

And I gave him a mane!

He would have a proper name, and I already made up one, Inakairi, combining the Japanese words for sea and lightning. "Sonic" would be his nickname.

I picture him being mature and more reserved whilst more sociable with friends, with a high emotional intelligence, choosing more to act over to speak, and with a healthy diet completely devoid of junk food!

This would be the teenage version of him, 'cause I imagine the adult one would have more defined facial features and a shorter lion's mane.

Otherwise, for some reason I liked the idea of Chaos having babirusa fangs! XD

Somehow, white glowing pupils over a saturated iris really brings out that madness!

I imagine that no chaos emeralds exist, instead, Sonic's using a shard of Chaos's water house crystal that was modified by Tails to hold lightning energy to amplify his elemental might, in order to triumph against Chaos.

After Sonic pommels the madness out of Chaos, the both of them become good friends, XD Chaos was only driven mad by the rage he was given by those long gone.

Then Chaos can turn into his gigantic serpent form at will!
