The journey of Srinagar To Leh Ladakh Road Trip starts from Dal lake, Srinagar. We decided to fly to Leh directly from New Delhi but due to bad weather conditions all flights got cancelled. We then decided to take a roadtrip to Leh which is around 420-440 kms.

The Srinagar highway is more of a thrill and adventurous but is also amazingly beautiful! We reached Srinagar on the same day and spent the night near Dal lake, enjoying the beauty of Kashmir.

We left Srinagar the next day, early morning around 6 am so that we could reach Leh before Sunset. After 80 kms of travel, we discovered Sonmarg in Ganderbal District of Jammu and Kashmir, India.

Then came Zoji La pass after 24 kms from Sonmarg. Zoji La is a high mountain pass located at a height of 11649 ft. in Kargil district.

Between Kargil and Zojila pass there is a small town named as Dras, also known as Gateway of Ladakh. Dras is the origin point of many popular treks and is considered the second coldest inhabited place in the world.

Apart from this, Kargil War Memorial is the main attraction in Kargil made by the Indian army in memory of soldiers who fought in the Kargil War (1998-1999).

Before reaching Leh, you can visit these tourist places- Sangam point and Magnetic Hill which is only 30 Kms away from Leh.

Sangam point is a confluence of Zanskar and Indus river while Magnetic Hill is a road where people believe that there is a strong magnetic field that moves the car upwards without turning the engine on.

This video is only about the road journey from Srinagar to Leh. My next video will show the journey of Ladakh starting from Nubra valley, A gateway to Ladakh.
