William Mechler has worked in law enforcement his entire adult life. During that time, he has observed a significant trend: almost all crimes now have a digital connection.
“Whether the device is the medium for the crime or there’s a piece of evidence that links the criminal to the crime scene via router interrogations and IP address geolocating, almost every crime has a link to something cyber,” he explained.

Cyber Florida, established in 2014, is dedicated to making Florida a national leader in cybersecurity through education, research, and community engagement. Hosted by the University of South Florida, we work on behalf of the State of Florida to create a robust pipeline of cybersecurity talent and to conduct groundbreaking research.

🎓 Our Mission:

Education: We're committed to increasing the number of skilled cybersecurity professionals by introducing cyber safety and career awareness programs in K-12 schools and supporting higher education institutions across Florida.
Research: Our research initiatives aim to contribute to the state-of-the-art in cybersecurity, helping Florida and the nation stay ahead in this critical field.
Engagement: We strive to make Florida the most cyber-secure state, engaging with public and private partners, hosting events, and leading awareness campaigns.
