President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has officially launched the National Consultation Forum in Mogadishu, bringing together political leaders, scholars, and former presidents to shape Somalia’s path forward.

The forum focuses on four key pillars:

Finalizing Somalia’s long-pending Constitution

Establishing a one-person, one-vote electoral system

Strengthening counter-terrorism efforts

Building an inclusive and democratic state rooted in unity and peace

President Mohamud emphasized that Somalia’s future must be Somali-led, urging all regions and political actors to engage in constructive dialogue.

“Let’s move past indirect systems. Our people deserve direct elections and real representation,” the President said.

📍 However, key federal member states like Jubbaland and Puntland have not yet joined the talks, raising concerns about whether the forum can achieve full national consensus.
