On January 14th, 2025, detectives with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office arrested 29-year-old Autumn Bardisa after she allegedly posed as a registered nurse at AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway for seven months, treating over 4,400 patients without a valid nursing license. According to Sheriff Rick Staly, Bardisa graduated from nursing school in 2022 but failed her state licensing exam. Investigators say she used another nurse's credentials and submitted false documents to secure employment as an advanced nurse technician in June 2024. Hospital administrators didn't discover the fraud until January 2025 when reviewing her file for a potential promotion to charge nurse. Ironically, Bardisa passed the nursing exam shortly after being fired. She now faces seven charges of practicing healthcare without a license and seven counts of fraudulent use of personal identification. Sheriff Staly noted that despite the serious charges, there were no reported injuries or deaths connected to patients under her care. This case highlights critical gaps in the healthcare hiring verification process.
