They Might Be Giants - Half a Boy (“Remastered”)

‘Half A Boy’ is one of my favorites 80s TMBG rarities. Something that has fascinated me for quite some time are its two versions. The song was written around the time of the Lincoln sessions with two versions that share the exact same vocal take, yet are arranged completely differently. The more common version, which was released through Clock Radio in the early 2000s features only a synthesizer as its backing. There is also the Dial-A-Song version, which I’ve always really liked, but unfortunately it’s in very clearly poor quality. This is my attempt at “cleaning up” that version. I arranged a backing track similar to that of the DAS version (utilizing samples from the Yamaha RX-15, which the original uses) and lifted the vocals from the higher quality Clock Radio recording. All in all, this results in what I refer to as a “remastered” version of the DAS recording. Enjoy.
