Fiji Reef Snorkel Fish Identification 6

Описание к видео Fiji Reef Snorkel Fish Identification 6

The Fiji Reef Snorkel Fish Identification movie was made by selecting the best video clips from our 6 snorkel trips to Fiji at resorts on the Yasawa Islands and a Captain Cook cruise around the Lau & Kadavu Islands. I like the fish videos because you can observe their behavior, the fish being fish! I use a GoPro with a high power underwater light which I find greatly enhances fish colors. An Olympus TG6 was also used for the still photos.

I have identified about 300 reef fish and 18 invertebrates in 61 categories. I have grouped the fishes Common Family Names alphabetically from Anemone fish to Wrasse. There isn't a standard for fish common names thus some of the names are different in the various reference books. Also some fish have local names like the "Dogface Puffer" and the "Batfish."

To help identify the fish in Fiji, I relied on the "Reef Fish Identification, Tropical Pacific" by Gerald Allen, Roger Steene, Paul Humann and Ned Deloach. I also used the "Ultimate Guide Hawaiian Reef Fishes" by John P. Hoover. I also have the "Indonesian Reef Fishes Photo Guide" but the common names are often very different thus I didn't utilize that reference.
