#Yamaha #Piaggero #Unboxing

Hello and welcome to another piano video at the Merriam Pianos YouTube channel. In this video, we’ll be unboxing the Yamaha NP-32 keyboard, and passing along some first impressions.

Typically on our channel we discuss, review and focus on acoustic pianos and 88 note, weighted digital pianos. This video will be a little bit different as the Piagero NP-32 is a 76 note, battery operated keyboard that does not have a weighted action. There are plenty of situations that don’t require a full 88 note keyboard, and something light weight and super portable is actually more appropriate, which is why we’ve decided to check out this instrument today. Let’s get the NP-32 unboxed and see what Stu has to say!

If this is the first time to the Merriam Pianos channel, please subscribe, we’d really appreciate the support.

Weight:

Right out of the box I can tell this piano is super light, and after looking up at the specs, I’m not at all surprised to find out the Piagero NP-32 weighs a mere 12 lbs. It takes up such little space that this would be a great option for someone seeking a compact MIDI controller.

Action:

I can tell right away that this is a spring loaded action - there’s definitely no counterweights here. There is some pressure sensitivity which is a huge plus for an action like this, so for a lightweight, battery operated keyboard, this action is serviceable.

Speakers:

The speakers are more than acceptable considering the weight and intended use of the instrument, coming in with a solid 12 watts of power.

On-Board Sounds:

There are 10 on-board sounds featured here covering the basics, and the sound quality is quite good. There’s two acoustic piano samples, two E.piano samples, two organs, strings, vibraphone, and two harpsichord samples.

Software Controller App:

The compatible Sound Controller App by Yamaha is another really nice feature. The NP-32 easily connects to a smartphone or tablet, and the Sound Controller App functions as a convenient visual interface and allows for easy navigation of the keyboard’s various features.

Conclusions:

My first impressions leave me coming away impressed. This is a highly affordable and super portable instrument that will work quite well for a number of applications. All in all, this is a hard to beat product for the price.
