Описание к видео Webinar: Children in Humanitarian Crises — How to Use Data Responsibly

The use of data in humanitarian settings can help to improve decision-making, optimize service delivery, and inform action that can save lives. While data can help people in the most adverse situations, the use of data can pose risks to individuals and groups, especially those already in vulnerable circumstances. These risks and challenges to responsible data handling are amplified in cases involving children’s data.

Humanitarian actors, including those working across the United Nations system, can capitalize on the value of data while mitigating the risks data can create by prioritizing responsible data principles in their work. Responsible data principles can help ensure that the datafication of humanitarian activities does not create harms to intended beneficiaries, including vulnerable groups such as children. Principles are especially valuable in emergent situations that lack clear and well-established institutional practices, processes, or policies.

This webinar will provide practitioners working in humanitarian contexts globally with actionable strategies for embodying responsible data principles in their work. Specifically, the webinar will focus on:
1. The Principles for Data Responsibility in Humanitarian Action, released in 2021 by Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) as part of its Operational Guidance on Data Responsibility
2. The Responsible Data for Children (RD4C) Principles, established by The GovLab and UNICEF, to support safe and effective handling of data for and about children.

In this event, representatives from the OCHA Centre for Humanitarian Data, The GovLab, and UNICEF introduce the Principles for Data Responsibility in Humanitarian Action and the RD4C Principles and provide recommended practices for implementing these complementary, mutually reinforcing frameworks in the field.
