Passion Rose formed in 1986. In September of 1987, the group released its first demo, which was self-titled, although in early 1988, Passion Rose had its first lineup change when bassist Siva left. He was soon replaced by Hidemi and in the second half of 1988, the group released its second demo, "Passion Rose 2", and later appeared on the iconic music program Yuji Miyake no Ikasu Band Tengoku (三宅裕司のいかすバンド天国), better known as simply Ikaten (イカ天), in February of 1989, skyrocketing their recognition immensely. In April of 1989, Passion Rose released their third demo "T-Point", which soon sold out and by the end of the year, Passion Rose had managed to develop a strong following in the early visual underground, and in March of 1990, the group released its first single "Under the Rose", which was their first release to be released across the underground music scene. It had decent sales in the early visual underground and in 1991, Passion Rose released its first full length album "Big Deal", which had even greater success than "Under the Rose", and the group also released its first single, "Out of Control", shortly after the album's release. Despite their strong following, the group would end up splitting in 1992, at the peak of their success. Frontman Yoshinao and bassist Hidemi both immediately afterwards went on to form the indies group Vice, which would ultimately end up folding in 1993. Afterwards, both Yoshinao and Hidemi then went their own separate ways. Yoshinao would start a solo career, although it would end up dissolving by 1997, and afterwards, he then retired from the visual scene. Hidemi, on the other hand, went on to join the visual group Eyeband Earl, which also split in 1994, and Hidemi then retired from the visual scene as well. In 2011, Hidemi returned to the underground music scene as a member of the legendary progressive rock group Happy Family under his full name of Hidemi Ichikawa (市川秀水). In 2022, he also joined the underground metal group Media, who would reunite for the first time in 35 years, and Hidemi remains active in both Happy Family and Media today. One of the guitarists of Passion Rose, Hop, officially retired from the visual scene following the group's split and instead joined the hard rock group Still Alive, although he left soon after he joined and joined the metal group NAMM. When NAMM also eventually dissolved by 1997, Hop then retired from the underground music scene in general. In 2016, after nearly 2 decades apart, NAMM surprisingly reunited with Hop returning from his retirement as a member, although it would disintegrate again in 2019. Hop then joined the Skid Row cover band Big Guns, which he was active in until its dissolution in 2023, and Hop has not yet joined another group and it is assumed he has since returned to his respective retirement. The other guitarist of Passion Rose, Rezy, retired from the visual scene as well following the group's dissolution and instead joined the highly obscure group Jail Birds, which he ended up leaving after less than a year and then joined the metal group Haraqed, which would dissolve in 1995. He then joined the popular hard rock group The Powernude under his full name of Hiroshi Hasegawa (長谷川浩), although he eventually left in 1996. He then returned to the visual scene since Passion Rose split when he became a support musician for the iconic group Kuroyume (黒夢), although he left in early 1997 and joined the visual duo Zillion Sonic, which also split in 2000. Hiroshi then joined the visual metal group Gyorai (魚雷), which he was active in until its disintegration in the summer of 2001. Hiroshi then retired from the visual scene once more and joined the group Spicy Sound Scratch, which was a project of Kuroyume bassist Hitoki (人時). When the project split in 2004, however, Hiroshi then retired from the music scene in general. The drummer of Passion Rose, Yukihiko, would retire from the visual scene as well afterwards and became a support and session musician, before officially joining the cover group Zen in 2003. In 2012, Zen mysteriously folded and afterwards, Yukihiko then seemed to have retired from the underground music scene in general as well.
