Love this way of thinking - awareness of tension for me is a really important tool for playing as close to our full potential as possible. If I’m ever not “feeling right”, I’ll think in these terms and ask myself where I am on this scale. Usually the answer in that case is 4/5 or above.

Also like the exercise of working through the different tension levels 10-0 to let our body feel what each one is like.

Obvs there are a few styles (punk etc), where we’d want to be at increased tension to fit the feel and attitude of the music. But generally I find level 2/3 will give the smoothest flow and best feel to grooves.
