Major Capers is a Vietnam veteran, Marine Recon legend, and nominee for the Congressional Medal of Honor. In this episode, he reflects on his life — from growing up as the son of sharecroppers, to becoming the first Black Marine Recon officer in U.S. history.

His story is one of grit, humility, and perseverance against all odds. Often called “the father of Marine Corps Special Operations,” Major Capers paved the way for generations of warfighters who followed.

In 2012, he was inducted into the Commando Hall of Honor at MacDill Air Force Base and remains a beloved ambassador of the United States Marine Corps.
