Hathla village is historically the oldest place of Lord Shanidev in Gujarat. This is one of the most ancient places of India, and the temple, Shanikund, Shivling, pond and almost the whole place here are kept safe by the Archaeological Department and the government.

An ancient idol of Balashani riding an elephant is installed in the temple here. According to the scriptures, Lord Shani has many forms, and one of them is Balasani, who is riding an elephant. The name of this form is Piplashraya. And this form of Shanidev is seen in this ancient temple of Hathla. Apart from this Hathla temple, you will not find this form of Sanidev anywhere else in the world. Shanidev and elephant ride, that is why we know this place by the name of Hathla. This village is also named Hathla because of Shanidev sitting on an elephant here.

There is a lot more here, like Shanidev's wife, Panoti Devi temple, different idols, Shivling, Nandi, Hanumanji's installation and Shani Kund.

The installation of Shani Dev in this temple has a platform of Shani Dev above the earth, and Shani Dev is riding an elephant, and his vehicle is an iron chariot, on which there is a vulture attached to the sky.

This temple remains open for the devotees 24 hours a day. But its advisable to visit this temple any day before 9 PM. Compared to normal days, there is a bigger crowd of devotees in this temple on Saturdays, Amavasya and Sani Jayanti.
