I love layering percussion in my music. One way to add some interest, especially to your snare (or what acts as a snare) is to layer a different percussion element on top of it, like a clap, and process it with delay and/or bloom reverb. The delay of the reverb allows the initial transient to poke through without getting washed out while, at the same time, filling the space between the snare hits.

Steps:
1. Layer your snare with another percussion sample.
2. Process that layered sample with a delay and/or a reverb
1. Consider the transient of the layered percussion and how it affects the original snare transient — is there enough time for a strong transient or is it being masked by the time-based effect(s)?
3. Adjust the delay/reverb time to taste to get it out of the way of the following snare hit
4. Add additional processing to taste.
