On the Wrist, from off the Cuff: Seiko – SZSB011 & SZSB018 vs. SARB035 & SARB017, Modern SARB line?

On this episode we take a look at some real in-house stunners under $300 from Seiko (check the link below for best pricing found). Their new SZSB line really embodies a lot of those design qualities and level of accessibility from the new discontinued and JDM only SARB line of yesteryear. Seiko has updated the formula for the classic SARB035/033 and SARB017 Alpinist, to make a globally accessible model line. Sure some may consider this new line down-spec'd due to crystal and movement choice, but there are actually some improvements to the original template as well (added design versatility). Oh, and the pricing is outstanding. While modern SBP lines have grown into pretty exclusively into the $600 to $1000 range (List/Retail), it's great to see Seiko offer something like the SZSB line, which offer a wonderful distilled take of their classic brand design language for a less.
