Salem Perfect Fit Parking Training

On September 12, 2024, MAPC's Adi Nochur hosted a training for staff and volunteers participating in the Salem parking analysis project. By surveying multifamily property owners and managers about their site characteristics and conducting overnight parking counts at these properties, this study will assess parking demand and utilization at multifamily housing developments in Salem.

Over the years, MAPC’s Perfect Fit Parking research has consistently found that off-street parking is oversupplied and underutilized at multifamily housing developments throughout Greater Boston. Given that excess parking often serves as a barrier to housing development and affordability, MAPC is now working with the City of Salem to determine how they might update local parking requirements to further affordable housing goals.
