Economist Jeffrey Sachs accused the United States of violating international law during an emergency United Nations Security Council session on Venezuela, warning that the use of force, economic sanctions, and coercive measures amounted to an unlawful attempt at regime change. Citing Article 2(4) of the UN Charter, Sachs said no member state had the right to determine another country’s political future through threats or force, and urged Washington to halt military pressure, end sanctions, and withdraw assets deployed around Venezuela.
