In September 2020, the City of Paris announced that the surroundings of 300 schools would be pedestrianised in the following years, thanks to an ambitious project called “La Rue aux Écoles” (“Children Streets”). For some streets, access to cars is completely prohibited, while for others, vehicle speed is lowered to 20 km/h to create "peaceful areas”. In this video, some parents, children, and David Belliard - Paris Deputy Mayor in charge of urban transformation, transport and mobility – present this project, its objectives and its benefits for the pupils.
