♡ The leash should exit the ring over the top of the dog's neck, and away to the dog's right. (This is the best orientation for walking the dog on your left side, which is the customary way in obedience training.).
♡ Position the leash as high on the neck as possible, behind the ears.
♡ Never leave a dog unattended while wearing a slip lead.
♡ Always use a buckle collar for ID tags and something to grab onto. (If you grab the slip lead's loop as you would a collar, it will open as the dog pulls against it, allowing the dog to escape.).
