Welcome to the Historic Centre of Mexico City.

Todays walking tour is approximately 1 hour. We start todays walk at the Palacio de Bellas Artes, one of the cities prominent cultural centres and iconic images of the Country. The exterior of the building is primarily Art Nouveau and Neoclassical and the interior is primarily Art Deco. The building is best known for its murals by Diego Rivera, Siqueiros and others, as well as the many exhibitions and theatrical performances it hosts, including the Ballet Folklórico de México.

Walking through the plaza we find our way towards passed the Casa de los Azulejos or "House of Tiles", which we will visit later on in our tour. Passing the blue tile walls we enter a sculpture garden.

Walking further down Madero Ave, we pass street vendors and basic taquerías side by side with high-end restaurants and boutiques. All along this bustling, pedestrian-only street we find some of the cities oldest historic landmarks, some dating from as far back as the Aztec era.

Reaching the end of the pedestrian mall, we enter Zócalo plaza, the city's beating heart. The area draws tourists to museums and iconic buildings like The Metropolitan Cathedral of the Assumption of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven, a grand cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Mexico.

Heading away from the square, we aim ourselves towards the Torre Latinoamericana, one of the cities first skyscrapers in downtown Mexico City. Its central location, height, and history make it one of the city's most important landmarks.

Once we circle back down along Mexico Cities 5th Ave, we find ourselves back at The House of Tiles. The iconic blue building is an 18th-century Baroque palace in Mexico City, built by the Count of the Valle de Orizaba family. The building is distinguished by its facade, which is covered on three sides by blue and white tile of Puebla state.

We follow our way back passed the Palacio de Bellas Artes and into Mexico Cities China Town, known as Barrio Chino. The neighbourhood is located on two blocks of Dolores Street and consists of many Chinese styled restaurants, businesses, and import goods stores.
