Today's Catholic Mass Readings and Gospel Reflection – Saturday, December 27, 2025
First Reading: 1 John 1:1–4
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 97:1–2, 5–6, 11–12
Gospel Reading: John 20:1–8
Feast of Saint John, Apostle and Evangelist — Christmas Octave
Reflection:
Today the Church celebrates Saint John, the beloved disciple and witness to the Word made flesh. In the first reading, John proclaims what he has heard, seen, and touched—the reality of Christ who brings fullness of joy and communion with God. The Gospel shows John running to the empty tomb and believing even before seeing the risen Lord. His faith is born from love and intimacy with Christ. Within the joy of Christmas, this feast reminds us that the Incarnation is not a distant story but a lived encounter. Like Saint John, we are called to bear witness to Christ through a deep relationship with Him, allowing our faith to lead others into the joy of communion with God.
