The New Yema Urban Field - premium feel, vintage vibes

Yema used military field watches as inspiration for the Urban Field's design, fusing aspects from many eras between the 1930s and 1980s. They claim that these are intended to be straightforward, legible sport watches that can also be dressed up when necessary, but to be honest, that's not how they appear to me. 'Mad Men meets space race' is written all over the retro-futuristic elements of the Yema Urban Field, in our opinion, which brilliantly evokes the early 1960s.

Yema is renowned for crafting dials with the ideal balance of usability and aesthetics, starting with the element that adds the most character. There isn't a single area of the dial that doesn't contribute to the overall design, but nothing has been purposefully made difficult to read. Bold blocks in the opposite colour of the dial are used to print the minutes track, and the numerals alternate between fashionable numerals and distinct forms for contrasting orientation. These, along with the crosshair in the centre and the razor-thin dauphine hands, are what give off the midcentury design vibes and remind us of some vintage Hamilton watches.
