Israeli leaders Danny Danon and Gideon Sa’ar have been vocal on the aftermath of the October 7 Hamas attacks. Both have emphasized that the hostages taken on that day must not be forgotten, and have called for their immediate and unconditional release.
Speaking at multiple UN Security Council media stakeouts, Danny Danon has consistently highlighted the suffering of Israeli families, pointing out the silence of international bodies on the plight of the hostages. On the anniversary of the attacks, Danon said: “This day marks Israel’s worst nightmare. We demand the world stand with us in calling for the immediate release of our hostages, many of whom are still in Hamas captivity.” He has accused the UN of focusing disproportionately on Gaza’s humanitarian crisis while ignoring Israeli victims.

Gideon Sa’ar, meanwhile, has reinforced this stance in political and diplomatic settings, stating that peace cannot be discussed while innocent civilians remain in captivity. Sa’ar continues to reject international pressure for one-sided concessions and has stressed the moral imperative to bring the hostages home before any further negotiation.

Their message is clear: the world must remember October 7—not just as an Israeli tragedy, but as a continuing crisis that demands immediate global action.
