In this Science (Chemistry) video in Hindi we introduced the chapter, Atoms and Molecules for class 9. This is a topic from Chapter 3 of NCERT Science.

If we hammer a rock, it breaks into small stone chips. If we break those chips, those break into sand. Further we break, those convert into dust. If we keep going, is there a point where the particle can not be broken further? This question haunted humans for millennia. Around 2500 years ago a siege from India, Maharshi Kanad said, matter was made up with very tiny indivisible particles called Paramanu (परमाणु). Two contemporary Greek philosophers Leucippus and Democritus stated the same. They named it atom (Greek word 'atomos' meaning 'indivisible'). But these were based upon philosophical thinking and there were no scientific experiment backing up those concepts at that time. But during 18th century there were several scientific experiments conducted and we came to know the real behaviour of atoms and molecules.

Two French scientists, Antoine Lavoisier and Joseph Luis Proust were very prominent during that period and they gave two laws, known as Laws of chemical combination. First one is law of conservation of mass and the second one is the law of definite proportion. But these laws could not be explained until British chemist John Dalton proposed his atomic theory.

In this chapter (Chapter 3 - Atoms and Molecules, Science, Class 9th, NCERT) we will be going to explained all those concepts and laws with details.
