The first one is that you can make money with art if you're just a beginner! The truth is that to make money with art you must be very good in what you do. You don't need to draw like Michelangelo or draw everything from memory. But you must be unique! Which is not easy, but it is possible. I show how simple styles can be successful. Art is about a human experience, so find what's unique about your art. The second lie is that clients don't care about your skills or portfolio. I see many artists using only 10% of their time making art and the rest of it they spend worrying about contacting clients, sending emails, in short, the whole process that involves networking. The truth is that you should spend a lot more time developing your portfolio, as this is the important part. If your portfolio is good, people will come after you. I always think about the example of a party. Instead of watching others have fun, show that the party is in you! The third lie is that you have to wait until you get "good". Do not wait, just do it. If you make an illustration and want to show it to others. Show it! If you receive a bad critique, just accept it and move on. There's that moment when you post an illustration that you didn't think was so good and it ends up being the one that others liked the most. The fourth lie is that artists make art 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Believe me, not even the most sought-after professionals work only with art 100% of the time. It's okay if you have a second source of income to support your art and don't be sad about it.
