Question: How much does it cost to maintain a trademark registration?

Answer: Once a trademark registration is issued, you are required to file periodic renewals to maintain the registration that have certain fees associated with them.

The first renewal is due between five and six years after your registration is issued. This renewal costs $325 per class, but it is recommended that you hire a lawyer to assist you with the application. Many firms offer the first renewal at $1000 (Gerben Law Firm's price is $650 in most cases).

The second renewal is due between the ninth and tenth year of ownership and costs $425 per class and legal fees are typically the same.

Following renewals are due every ten years thereafter.
