Restoring an Antique Ship Clock: DIY Restoration Process & Nautical Decor Transformation

Описание к видео Restoring an Antique Ship Clock: DIY Restoration Process & Nautical Decor Transformation

I found this antique ship clock at an online auction. Its identifications are 'Precision Hamburg QUARTZ,' 'SHIP'S BELL,' 'Made in Germany.' My idea was to restore it using only the tools and utensils I have at home, without any specialized equipment. In this case, to restore the brass shine, I usually use vinegar. This removes all oxidation, allowing for a shiny finish polish. I use a mixture of cornstarch with vinegar so that not much vinegar is needed to immerse the whole piece. Additionally, I also use hot water to remove the old lacquer, allowing the vinegar to take effect on the entire surface.

For this clock, I couldn't repair or find a substitute movement, identified as 'KUNDO 519023' 'Germany,' so I had to adapt a new mechanism. Unfortunately, with this, the ship bell function that the original clock originally had was lost. But still, the piece turned out very beautiful, just as I expected.

In the end, I attached the piece to a wooden base to hang it on the wall and complement my nautical decor. I have been restoring pieces for a long time, mainly related to nautical themes, but only recently started making videos of these restorations. If you want to suggest any improvements to my content, feel free to comment. My idea here is to share the restorations and continuously improve the quality of the videos.
