In order to become a devotee, one does not need to completely renounce all pleasurable activities. The scriptures simply ask us to do whatever we are doing - but do it for Krishna. This applies to cooking as well - we may cook tasty dishes, but we are cooking it for the Lord, and then, once it has been offered, we may honor the Prasadam.
