In the first episode of Princy Gets Personal- I’m taking you to the place where I grew up. But more than just my childhood house this place is the soul of Old Mumbai - the Chawls.
From the richest man of India - Dhirubhai Ambani, the big bull Harshad Mehta , superstar Jeetendra, pride of Marathi Literature Pu La Deshpande to the coolest icon Jackie Shroff
all of these people started their journeys from the chawls of Mumbai.
But slowly these chawls are disappearing and being replaced by skyscrapers. With the chawls fading away we might also lose the cultural significance it holds which holds a huge contribution to the real spirit of mumbai.
This is my ode to the spirit of mumbai and an attempt to keep the soul of these places alive even if the buildings change.
This isn’t just a mumbai story- if you have ever lived in Ahmedabad’s pol, delhi’s colony, UP’s mohalla or Kolkata, Bihar’s bastee you will relate with the joy of community living.
