My bowel cancer was not genetic - I have zero genetic risk factors and there is zero cancer in my family. I also for the last 10 years have been on the biggest health journey and the last 4 years have eaten 80-90% whole foods, we use non toxic products at home, I don’t drink much alcohol, exercise every day and eat a high fibre diet.

So how did I get bowel cancer at 39….

My surgeon’s words “you acquired this mutation throughout your lifetime - most probably due to chemicals during your childhood including food/cleaning products etc.” he then went on to say that stress then triggers mutations on weak cells.

That’s pretty fucking scary. I’m talking ultra processed foods, tiny teddies, pop tarts, coco pops, weetbix, shapes, chips, biscuits, Macdonalds. Along side toxic cleaning products, fly sprays, sunscreens. Then we also have things like radiation.

It was the 90’s. Convenience was a thing - parents were busy (they still are) and as long as we had our meat and 3 veggies and some fruit - the mentality was “we’d burn it off”. And we did - we were active kids. Little did we know what was actually happening.

So if I make you feel uncomfortable from here - I’m actually not sorry - because I might just save yours and your kids lives.

STOP FEEDING YOUR KIDS ULTRA PROCESSED FOODS!!! Stop the mentality - if’ they’re fed it’s fine - ITS NOT FINE!

You have a responsibility- to nourish those kids, to give them the best opportunity to THRIVE long term. It starts with YOU.

I know it can be overwhelming - but just start somewhere. Baby steps.
