The new malware and phishing filter addon now uses the google API.

This has several advantages. Firstly the google api is free, so its available to everyone. Second its exponentially faster as the new google api allows you to check 500 urls per request.

Further the new addon offers many filtering and export options for checking if a site has malware or phishing on it.

It also auto uses proxies with the api keys and auto throttles so you don't violate the google tos.

You must enable the “Safe Browsing API” (not the legacy version) inside your Google Cloud Console project.

The process is:

Go to Google API Console

Create a new project (or use an existing one).

Go to “Library”.

Search for Safe Browsing API.

Choose the standard Safe Browsing API, not the “legacy” one.

Click Enable.

Then go to Credentials → Create Credentials → API Key.

Copy that API key into Scrapebox.
